This course is designed for students in grades 1 to 3. In this coding course, students will learn how to navigate the Scratch platform and use its block-based language to build arcade-style video games. The course spans 10 weeks, with each one-hour session dedicated to creating at least one video game. Through the process of designing their own games, students will be introduced to fundamental game design principles and discover how to utilize various types of programming blocks. They will explore key concepts such as variables, conditionals, loops, functions, animation, and more, enriching their understanding and skills in computational thinking and digital literacy.
This course is designed for students in grades 4 to 6. In this coding course, students will learn how to navigate the MakeCode Arcade platform and initially use its block-based language, then progress to the JavaScript language to build arcade-style video games. The course spans 10 weeks, with each one-hour session dedicated to creating at least one video game. Through the process of designing their own games, students will be introduced to fundamental game design principles, discover how to utilize various types of programming blocks, and learn the basics of JavaScript language. They will explore key concepts such as variables, conditionals, loops, functions, animation, and more, enriching their understanding and skills in computational thinking and digital literacy.
